This report presents the findings of an academic symposium held by the Middle East Studies Center in Jordan and Syria in May 2025.
The symposium aims to examine the transformations that have followed the fall of the Assad regime in the short and medium terms, describing their causes, motivations, and contexts. It also outlines the features of this transformation, as well as the challenges and opportunities it entails.
The symposium concludes that avoiding the division of Syrian territory into zones of influence for regional and international parties, halting the chaos that prevailed during the previous regime, and ensuring a smooth and secure political transition with the support of regional and global stakeholders are crucial strategies for creating a new, promising Syria.
The symposium highlights the concern and interest of the Arab and regional countries in supporting Syria to ensure the success of a peaceful transition as it faces.
