The 'Middle Eastern Studies Journal' is considered the foremost specialized peer-reviewed publication in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It is dedicated to studies, analyses, and reviews related to transformations in the Middle East region and its future, as well as global transformations relevant to the Middle East.
The journal primarily focuses on political, economic, social, and strategic domains across its various sections. The research, studies, and reports published in the journal adhere to globally recognized scientific peer-review standards. They are also subjected to scientific plagiarism detection programs such as Plag Scan and others. A significant development in the journal's scientific standing is its accreditation with impact factors and reference citations in the 'Arab Scientific Journals' (Arcif), which align with the criteria of internationally renowned peer-reviewed scientific journals on an annual basis. In 2020, it was classified within the first category (Q1), the highest category, in the field of social sciences on the Arab level. It was also classified within the second category (Q2), the upper middle category, in the field of political science on the Arab level.
The journal is recognized by many important Arabic and foreign knowledge databases, including Dar Al Manhal, Dar Al Manthuma, and Alam Al-Ma'rifah, in addition to being indexed on Google Book and the global database EBSCO. The journal, published by the Middle East Studies Center in collaboration with the Jordanian Institute for Research and Information, enjoys an official independent legal personality as of March 7, 2000.
The journal is published quarterly, four times a year, in early January, April, July, and October. It is an evolved edition of 'Middle East Issues,' which was solely published by the Middle East Studies Journal Center for four years, with the first issue released in March 1996. The journal has a Jordanian Editor-in-Chief, an editorial board, and a board of advisors comprising colleagues with diverse backgrounds within the middle east region including Arab and Jordanian colleagues.
