This study examines Israeli plans to confiscate and annex Palestinian lands in the West Bank, specifically the Jordan Valley and the northern Dead Sea, which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has proposed since 2020 and beyond.
It reveals the content of these plans, which aim to annex vast Palestinian areas amounting to 40% of the West Bank. The study explores the background and history of this planning in Israeli thought and policy, from the occupation of the West Bank in 1967 to the most recent Israeli plan proposed by current Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich in 2017.
The study investigates the implications of such plans if implemented, for the security, humanitarian, economic, and political situations in Palestine and the region. It also discusses these plans and their relationship to the announcement made by US President Donald Trump on January 28, 2020, called the "Deal of the Century."
The study assesses the risks and challenges that annexation plans may create in the region, which could complicate the Arab-Israeli conflict rather than resolve it.
The study concludes that Israel ignores the current Arab and international positions regarding this plan, which only verbally rejects it. It violates all international agreements and laws related to the occupied territories, as well as agreements signed with the Palestinians and Arabs, an apparent injustice.
It will proceed with the implementation of this annexation plan unless practical Palestinian, Arab, and international action stands in its way.
