This study offers a comprehensive understanding of Syria's future political system and examines the regional implications of this transformation. It analyzes the impacts of the Syrian transformation on Palestinian factions in Syria as well as the Palestinian cause. The study also identifies the challenges and opportunities facing the new Syrian political system.
It emphasizes the significance of transitional justice during the post-conflict phase. The study examines the factors that affect the future relationship between Syria and Israel—in light of these transformations, considering the Israeli illegal incursions on Syrian land.
The study discusses the assumption that the fall of the old regime and the emergence of a revolutionary government will lead to radical transformations in the political and social structure. The study examines the potential of these transformations to reposition Syria region regionally and internationally, particularly regarding the Palestinian issue and its relations with Iran and Turkey.
The study employs a descriptive-analytical approach to examine the political, social, and economic conditions in Syria. It traces the paths of transformation since 2011, describing the components of the crisis and diagnosing its underlying structure to provide a comprehensive picture of the internal and regional dynamics.
The study concluded that the internal repercussions of the transformation in Syria are linked to the restructuring of the political system on democratic foundations, addressing accumulated grievances, and establishing transitional justice that ends the logic of impunity and grants victims their right to truth and redress.
Furthermore, the future of social stability will depend on the new regime's ability to transcend the logic of security and build effective civil state institutions that restore respect for the rule of law and citizenship.
At the regional level, the new Syria will contribute to reshaping the balance of power in the Middle East, especially after the decline in Iranian influence and the retreat of unofficial armed forces.
This repercussion will impact the security equation in Lebanon and Syria's relations with both Turkey and Israel. It will also pave the way for Damascus's reintegration into the Arab world, whether through the Arab League or new bilateral alliances. The study also concluded that numerous opportunities exist for Syria to rebuild its relations with its Arab neighbors. These opportunities address common challenges related to borders, refugees, terrorism, and combating drug trafficking.
